Friday Flash Picks: 13-May-22
This week has been a whirlwind of submissions and edits. Having five minutes spare to read a short story has helped me immensely, keeping me inspired and motivated to keep trying on my own writing journey. In the process, I found these beauties that I’d like to share with you today! Please go and give the authors the love they so deserve!
Lost Girl by Courtney Gagnon — Everyday Fiction — Fantasy / Modern
“There’s a moment when you’re swinging. When the swing is as high as it can go and you’re suspended in midair. If you lean back on your way up to that moment, you’ll find yourself surrounded by sky, suspended in the stars. It’s the closest experience to flying; at least, that’s what Peter said.”
We’ll Keep it on File by Jordan Chase-Young — Flash Point Science Fiction — Science Fiction / Humour
Look, the Galactic Federation has standards to uphold. It can’t just let anyone become a member, willy-nilly. Although it must be said, our hula hoops genuinely are interesting.
End Program by Eric Fomley — Stupefying Stories — Science Fiction
Immerse yourself Ayix’s daily life, giving holo-tours to CitiTrain passengers. Be patient with him, though—his programming is wearing down a little nowadays. Maybe try asking him a question, it’s been a long time since anyone did that…
