Spec-Fic Recommendations: 10 April
I love to read. I mean… it would probably be a bit weird if I didn't. But seriously, guys. Love it.
Lately, I've enjoyed finding Speculative flash fiction that makes me think, gives me a chuckle, and surprises me. The great thing about flash fiction is that you can sit down with a cuppa and have a whole story told to you by the time you’re done - perfect to indulge in during your break at work or if the kids ever give you five minutes to yourself (hah!). And I want to share some of them with you! So here are today’s picks, in no particular order:
Maudie's Basement Bar by Jane Brown — Everyday Fiction — Fantasy — 5-minute read
Sometimes, our OCs just need a break. But never fear, Maudie is there, ready with a cup of your favourite beverage and a sympathetic ear. And a notepad...
NPC by James Van Pelt — Daily Science Fiction — SciFi / Fantasy with a dark twist — 5-minute read
Where do all the NPCs come from, anyway? What do they think when they're giving out directions to eager adventurers? What are their goals and dreams? James Van Pelt gives us a very dark window into the answers to these questions!
Dead Rain by Eric Raglin — Dread Stone Press — Horror - 5-minute read
* Shudders * This one is rough, guys. Beautifully written with enough tension to keep you scrolling in a race to the end yet simultaneously dreading what will come.
