Halfway through the 100 Story Challenge

Since I recently dipped my toes back into microfiction, especially Drabbles (stories of exactly 100 words), I've found them so valuable to try out new ideas, test new voices, and generally have a little fun with my writing.

So when I found Zane Dickens' 100 Story Challenge on Medium, I decided to join the daily challenge and give myself a few rules to follow to wake up my writing brain each day and have a little fun in the process.

The rules I followed were slightly adapted from Zane’s:

  1. Write every day.

  2. Use any prompt that works that day - an image at random or searching a keyword and using whatever sparks your imagination.

  3. 100 words. No more, no less.

It's a simple premise with only a few restrictions. So far, it’s led me to write some miniature stories that I really like, and some ideas and characters that I may even develop further into short stories or even novellas.

Some of the drabbles I wrote at the start (The Abandoned, for one) were offshoots of my short story ‘A Cup of Empathy’, currently in submission, which I’m also now developing into a full serial novel!

My mind is a very tangled web of ideas lately, guys…

Today I reached the halfway mark! I've written fifty drabbles in fifty days, so I'm giving myself a pat on the back.

To read all the Drabbles I’ve written so far for this challenge, you can read them for free in my Wattpad collection.
